Video: See how Nissan checks its cars for radiation

Nissan radiation testing - Click above to watch video after the jump
Japanese automakers are continuing to test their products for excessive radiation levels as they leave their respective manufacturing facilities and before they're loaded onto container ships for transport. Nissan has released a video detailing the company's radiation check system, which includes monitoring randomly-selected sample group vehicles in three key locations.
Workers measure levels at the vehicles' wheels, the center of the hood and the steering wheel before handing out clean bills of health. So far, all of the company's vehicles have passed without a problem.
Automakers began testing vehicles after the disaster at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant despite the fact that most manufacturing locations are situated well away from the ill-stricken facility. The video after the jump follows a few vehicles (including a 370Z and a GT-R) through the test procedure and onto a transportation vessel in port. Click past the jump to watch the full video for yourself. Thanks for the tip, Stephen!

2012 Nissan Versa gets early reveal as Tiida in Shanghai
Filed under: Budget, China, Hatchback, Nissan, Shanghai Motor Show
2012 Nissan Tiida - Click above for high-res image gallery
Nissan has joined the crowd of unveils at this year's Shanghai Motor Show by introducing the 2012 Tiida. While we expect to get a closer look at the American version of this hatch later this week at the 2011 New York Auto Show, most of the juiciest details have already been served up on the other side of the globe. Along with some shapely new lines and reworked headlights, the 2012 Nissan Tiida comes packing a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. That's different than the 1.8-liter lump found in the American Versa, though buyers can expect to see similar fuel economy.
Barring any major advancements in the vehicle's already-efficient CVT gearbox, the EPA will likely brand the car with the same 28 mpg city and 34 mpg highway rating. Not bad considering that the little econo-can rocks 122 108 horsepower.
Interestingly enough, Nissan has made mention of a new turbocharged version of the Tiida, though no actual specifics have been mentioned at this point. While that likely means the pint-sized hatch will soon be packing one of the company's three-cylinder forced-induction engines, we're dreaming about a Versa with the 188 horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter engine from the Juke under the hood. Follow the jump for Nissan's official word from Shanghai.

â âErrandsâ Launch Commercial Highlights One-Touch Technology, Flexible Storage and Advanced Clean-Air Climate Control System â
The 2011 Nissan Quest, which arrived at Nissan retailers nationwide last week, launches today with a 360-degree media campaign anchored by a new 30-second television spot titled âErrands.â The all-new Quest is a boldly styled minivan designed to make life as a parent a little easier and put Nissan squarely back into the heart of the minivan market. The campaign also includes digital advertising, print, social and an iAd.

It is scheduled to run on national and cable broadcast networks throughout February, as well as in select online environments.

A main portion of this partnership includes a sweepstakes where consumers can win a new Nissan Quest or Disney prize packages. Other elements include co-branded Internet banners, inclusion of âMars Needs Momsâ in Nissanâs iAd, co-branded Disney web page and Radio Disney voiceover spots.
âAs the new campaign demonstrates, Quest is about to tackle the toughest job on the planet: parenting. Itâs an entirely new take on the minivan â with bold styling, an extensive list of family-friendly innovations and amenities that families can enjoy together,â said Jon Brancheau, vice president, Nissan Marketing. âQuest provides the innovation to help make the impossible possible on a daily basis â just like parents do.â
